Taken from a family photo in the early 1970's, the colors are similar to the vibrant personality that my great-grandmother, Grandma Tippy Toes, possessed. Hew creates drawings by simplifying the figurative structures, layering pastels and wrapping it all up with ink. The final step of the process is adding words in partnership with the drawing to achieve an emotional connection and instill a conversation of thoughts for the audience.
